M5A3 in Battlefield 2042 Orbital map

Battlefield 2042 has launched and players can get immediate access to the M5A3 Assault Rifle. This AR already looks to be a powerful choice, so here are the best loadout attachments, Specialist, and Gadget to equip.

Assault Rifles, especially the M5A3, already appear to be the dominant weapon choice in Battlefield 2042, so players will be looking to find the best loadout. This is the perfect time for players to experiment and try out different stuff before the launch of Season 1.

Battlefield 2042 uses the Plus System to change attachments, so they can only be changed after you spawn in. But, you can keep changing them as much as you like mid-game. Using the Plus System, here are the best attachments, Specialist, and Gadgets you can use with Battlefield 2042's M5A3 Assault Rifle.

Best Battlefield 2042 M5A3 loadout attachments

  • Barrel: Extended Barrel
  • Sight: Maul Hybrid 1.5-3x
  • Ammo: Standard Issue
  • Underbarrel: Cobra Grip

This Battlefield 2042 M5A3 loadout is designed to help you fight targets at medium to long range. But, with its Hybrid scope, you can quickly change to a close-range optic to easier see and track close-range targets.

To start, the Extended Barrel will be a major boost to the weapon's range. You'll get much more bullet velocity, which means your bullets hit targets quicker and you don't need to lead your shots as much when they're moving.

Next, we've opted for the Maul Hybrid 1.5-3x sight. The 3x is perfect for the kind of engagements you'll get into in the massive maps, so you'll get the most use out of it. While you can change to a 1.5x by pressing the Melee button, you can also just use the Plus System to add a Red Dot sight.

For Ammo, we recommend sticking with the Standard Issue as there are no downsides. The other magazines have significant tradeoffs – the close-range mag reduces your damage range and the heavy mag significantly reduces bullet count.

And finally, the Cobra Grip will improve your accuracy while you're standing still. If you stop and crouch to shoot, you'll find the M5A3 a much more powerful weapon.

For the best Specialist to run with the M5A3, we recommend Mackay, the agile Assault Specialist.

His Grappling Hook will allow you to get onto rooftops, where you can easily hold down an objective using the M5A3's versatility. And his Nimble trait allows you to quickly strafe while shooting, making yourself an extremely hard target to hit.

Best Gadget to use with the M5A3 in Battlefield 2042

We recommend using the Ammo Crate Gadget with the M5A3. One thing we've noticed is that you'll quickly burn through your ammo with the M5A3, so using the Ammo Crate will keep you topped up.

Luckily in Battlefield 2042, you immediately get access to the M5A3. You just need to keep using it and you'll quickly level up and unlock all of the attachments needed for the best loadout.

Battlefield 2042 players slam identical weapon attachments

There's no shortage of weapon attachments to unlock in Battlefield 2042, but players feel they are too similar to make them worth the grind.

Battlefield 2042 weapon attachments

Battlefield 2042 has plenty of attachments for players to work towards, kitting out their weapons with powerful sights and grips. However, fans aren't happy that many of the attachments for the same weapons function almost exactly the same.

Despite still being in early access, the launch of Battlefield 2042 has come with a number of problems. Players have already hit out at the roster of weapons available upon release, and devs have had to respond to concerns over bullet spread.

The first official season is still some way off, so DICE has time to get long-time fans back onside. But there's no doubt that it hasn't been the smoothest of launches for the shooter sequel.

Now, early access players have called out the customization available for each of the weapons. One Reddit user uploaded screenshots, showing that many of the attachments are almost identical despite being for the same guns.

Reddit user ultrajvan shared a series of in-game screenshots from the weapon customization menu in Battlefield 2042. The images showed side-by-side comparisons of attachments for the same weapons.

In them, you can see that unlockables for the same weapons have exactly the same buffs and nerfs, even though they are different attachments.

For example, the 6KU Suppressor and Wrapped Suppressor for the M5A3 both give the same buffs to sound suppression and minimap spotting. They also lowered the effective range of the weapon, but the latter drops the overall firepower by five.

The similarity between attachments like these has left fans wondering why they are so many to unlock when they do little to change how a weapon plays.

The screenshots sparked an angry reaction from fellow Battlefield 2042 players, who questioned this design choice by DICE.

"It just feels like they're trolling people. It's one big joke on all of us," replied one fan. "Feels like [they were] designed as cosmetic from the get-go, the effects are afterthoughts," said another.

Others questioned if this was actually a UI glitch that hid the real effects each attachment brings. "I hope the attachment UI is just bugged and shows the wrong values here and will be fixed in the day-one patch."

DICE are yet to comment on the concerns raised by players. It's unclear at the moment if this is a glitch or the way that devs intended attachments to work.

Battlefield 2042 devs respond to "oppressive" bullet spread mechanic

Battlefield 2042 players instantly reacted negatively to the game's random bullet spread mechanic, and DICE have responded to the concerns.

Battlefield 2042 has finally arrived but the bullet spread mechanic making gunfights extremely frustrating for players is an issue, and the devs have issued a response.

Battlefield 2042 has now entered early access, and players are still familiarizing themself with everything Portal, Hazard Zone, and All-Out Warfare have to offer.

However, Battlefield 2042 features a bullet spread mechanic which is frustrating players. This is also in Vanguard but appears to be much stronger in Battlefield. With the way the guns are designed, bullets don't go exactly where you aim – leading to randomness in gunfights.

After player backlash, DICE's Lead Game Designer has responded to the concerns.

Ever since Battlefield 2042 launched, players complained that something felt off about gunfights. Reddit user JetW77 demonstrated exactly what the issue is, showing off the significant bullet spread.

Even though the reticle was directly on a stationary enemy, JetW77's DM7 completely missed every shot, with the bullets going in wild directions. And the Reddit user isn't the only one affected by this issue, with the Battlefield 2042 subreddit full of clips showcasing bullets going in random directions.

One user said the bullet spread "makes DMR's absolutely useless. I'm sick of hitting about 10% of my shots with them." Another said that "They better fix this, this is 1000% unacceptable."

DICE has confirmed they're aware of the issue after Twitter user VII Catalyst tweeted that Battlefield 2042's "gunplay has me having 0% confidence in my gunskill."

"I've competed against the best BF players in the world," they continued. "I shouldn't be questioning taking a gunfight against 'BillyBob374' because of unreadable/oppressive spread and hitreg issues."

Thanks for the tag, we're looking at weapons already and are planning on a few changes regarding spread. Not date or specifics to share for the changes yet though.

DICE's Lead Game Designer, Florian Le Bihan, was tagged in the replies. He responded, "Thanks for the tag, we're looking at weapons already and are planning on a few changes regarding spread. Not date or specifics to share for the changes yet though."

So DICE is aware of the feedback and is looking at bullet spread, but there's no sign of a release date for the fix.
